The Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a unique 10-digit identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in India. It is mandatory for businesses engaged in international trade to obtain this code.
Basic IEC – For those who are actively engaged in import-export consultancy for business and clients.
Single IEC – This is where the government issues a single bonded logistics zone to a business establishment to conduct both imports and exports.
Special IEC – it may be industry-specific or for specific Special Economic Zones.
